1. 6:24-38 THE GOD-LIKE HEART

for even the sinners love those that love them.
j. 6:33 AN ENLARGEMENT ON THE ABOVE

e. 6:42b HOW TO BECOME PERFECTED AS THE TEACHER

f. 6:43 GOOD TREES ARE PERFECTED WITHOUT HYPOCRISY

l. 6:49 MAN'S FOUNDATION: ENDS IN CERTAIN RUIN

But who heard, and did not, is like a man

that built a house upon the earth without a foundation;

against which the river broke, and straightway it fell in;

and the ruin of that :house was great.
3. 7:1 After he had ended all his :sayings in the ears of the people, he entered into Capernaum.
E-peiDE ePLEro-sen PANta ta 'REma-ta auTOU eis tas a-koAS tou laOU, eiSELthen eis Ka-phar-naOUM.
NOTE: 2010-11-19 - A sailor friend during World War II days, was troubled about 6:26. Other sailors told him how much they appreciated and liked him. He knew that I was under persecution for my stand for the Lord andwitnessing, and was concerned that something was wrong with his life. I personally did not feel that he needed to be concerned overly. He was a witness - but we were just different types. Nevertheless 6:24-38 should cause us each one to search our hearts. The whole passage is really a picture of the heart and life of Jesus as the Son of :man! He lived this life perfectly. The Father confirmed it 3 times from heaven. None of us can of ourselves equal this. The passage is really a picture of what we will approximate as we let Jesus live His life completely through us by the Holy Spirit. Galatians 2:20 then becomes for us as it did for Paul, a picture of the life of one fullydiscipled to Jesus. Mark 8:34 has the 3 conditions that brings this goal into fruition.
6:39-49 - Jesus here shifts the picture somewhat. We can all fall into the trap of judging and criticizing a brother, and be blind to the samefault in ourselves, even magnified! Again, only by allowing Jesus by His Spirit to fully possess us, can our life begin to show forth truly what Jesus here lays before us. It is good for us to say a personal “Amen” to Paul's word in Romans 7:18 - “For I knowthat in me, that is, in my :flesh, dwells no good: for to will is present with me, but to work the good, no.” Philippians 3:3b is a help also at this point ' “for we are the circumcision, who worship by God's Spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh:” It is the third statement that is a hall-mark of the life of Paul, and must be for each one of us also, if we like him are to be well-pleasing to God.
Jesus no doubt repeated the teaching of the Sermon on the Mount in Matthew in many other locations and contexts. We can see here much in Luke that is parallel - but at the same time - there are many wonderful insights that differ. J.A.W.
